Living on Earth’s Bruce Gellerman talks with author Ken Shulman about his new book “Venus in Sole Visa” (Venus Seen Against the Sun).
Author Ken Shulman’s new book “Venus in Sole Visa” tells the story of the legendary 1761 Venus transit Expedition. 117 explorers were dispatched to the four corners of the globe to observe Venus passing between the earth and the sun. The participants braved floods, war, disease and prison to collect data for what was the world’s first international research project.
